Introduction

I’m sure that my topic will be of great interest for everyone because The Great Patriotic War was of great importance to the whole world. Victory in this war brought liberation to many countries. As well it was a very hard time for the whole country the USSR. Today many people don’t know significance of Yaroslavl during the war.

 

The aim of my work

The aim of my project is to analyze the role of Yaroslavl in The Great Patriotic War and to expand knowledge on this topic.

 

Work tasks

In my project I would like to focus on what Yaroslavl did for the victory of our country: how Yaroslavl lived during this time and who were the most outstanding people of this time.

Population of Yaroslavl during the warYaroslavl region by the beginning of The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was an intensively developing large industrial region in which about 2.3 million people lived. It took about 0.4 million wounded and about 0.3 million evacuees. About 600 thousand of its inhabitants participated in the battles of The Great Patriotic War; about 200 thousand of them died.

In 1941, from the first months of The Great Patriotic War, most industrial enterprises switched to the production of products for the needs of the front.

  • Yaroslavl electric machine-building plant moved to the production of starters for t-34 tanks.
  • Recycling plant produced incendiary bombs, grenade shells.
  • The automobile plant produced three-ton dump trucks and tracked artillery tractors.
  • The shipyard produced military boats.
  • The proletarian freedom produced 82 mm land mines.
  • The distillery produced an incendiary mixture "Molotov cocktail".
  • The plant "Krasny Mayak" produced cartridges.
  • Yaroslavl tire plant produced about 70% of all tires in the country.

Outstanding people

  • I. A. Kolyshkinthe – first Soviet submariner M. K. Tikhonravov – the developer of shells for 'Katyusha' B. I. Shavyrin – the chief designer of mortar weapons M. I. Koshkin – the creator of the t-34 tank M. I. Koshkin – the creator of the t-34 tank. Yaroslavl’s huge contribution to the victory was rewarded. At the front, thousands of residents of the region were awarded with orders and medals.

Conclusion

While working on my project I came to the conclusion: Yaroslavl played a very important role. The contribution that Yaroslavl made to the victory in The Great Patriotic War is enormous. We should be proud of those who worked tirelessly for the good of the country.
